Hôpital Cardiologue Louis Pradel known for research and cutting-edge care

Since 1969, Hôpital Cardiologue Louis Pradel has specialized in cardiology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, medical-surgical cardio-pediatrics, endocrinology, pulmonology, anesthesia-resuscitation and critical care. A center of excellence in research and care, the 400-bed Louis Pradel hospital is the first center for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and is a center for cardiovascular emergencies. The hospital performs more than 50 cardiopulmonary transplants each year and houses the only medico-surgical cardiopediatrics center in the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region.

Philippe Douek, professor of cardiology at Hôpital Cardiologue Louis Pradel, is involved in the development of image post processing and new technology in CT and MR. In addition to his work at Hôpital Cardiologue Louis Pradel, Professor Douek is a radiologist and project lead in the radiology department at Lyon University Hospital and the chairperson of a consortium of 10 Departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at Lyon Hospital. He has strong experience in coordination of pre-clinical and clinical projects in imaging research involving clinicians, basic science researchers, imaging companies and pharmaceutical companies.

At ECR 2024, he explained how he uses Philips Advanced Visualization Workspace to assess cardiac CT and cardiac MR studies.

The Advanced Visualization Workspace offers optimized workflows and results automation. Comprehensive and scalable, it features a suite of solutions that help physicians perform advanced analysis.

CT cardiac viewer

The CT Cardiac Viewer provides a set of tools for the visualization of one or multiple cardiac phases using original images or MPR\MIP images in axial, coronal, sagittal or dedicated cardiac axes (short axis, horizontal long axis and vertical long axis).

MR cardiac

The MR Cardiac Suite features an award-winning cardiac MR reading experience. The suite includes a multi-modality viewer that allows review of cardiac MR and other modalities images, including prior exams. The suite also includes various analysis applications in one environment and a findings dashboard for a consolidated view of the patient.

CT comprehensive cardiac analysis

Comprehensive CT cardiac analysis uses automated workflow to assist the user in viewing, analyzing and quantifying dedicated Cardiac CT Angiograms. It offers cardiac function analysis based on automatic 3D model-based whole-heart and 3D chambers segmentation, as well as automatic extraction and visualization of the coronary tree. The embedded CAD-RADS workflow allows reporting in a standardized manner.

Background processing

Professor Douek explains that the Workspace processes images in the background so all information, including quantitative data, is available as soon as the clinician starts reporting. He also appreciates the ability to see multiple applications at once.

“Because you have everything all together, you actually you improve your accuracy of your diagnosis.”
